Elouise Cobell discusses Indian trust settlement in New Mexico

Elouise Cobell, the lead plaintiff in the
Indian trust fund
lawsuit, has been in New Mexico this week to discuss the $3.4 billion settlement in the case.
Cobell and attorney Dennis Gingold held meetings at
Laguna Pueblo and
Church Rock Chapter
House on the
Navajo Nation on Tuesday.
Yesterday, they were in Farmington, where more than 500 people heard about the settlement.
"We were able to stand up for individual Indians and get them justice," Cobell said at the meeting, The Farmington Daily Times reported. "This is the largest class-action lawsuit in history, and we're making the government pay attention to individual Indians.
An estimated 8,000 Navajos, primarily in the Four Corners area, are expected to benefit from the settlement.
