Elouise Cobell to visit Navajo Nation to talk about $3.4B settlement

Elouise Cobell, the lead plaintiff in the
Indian trust fund
lawsuit will visit the
Navajo Nation next week to discuss the $3.4 billion settlement that was signed into law last year.
Cobell and her team have scheduled
meetings in Church Rock, Farmington and Torreon, in New Mexico. An estimated 8,000 Navajo beneficiaries, primarily in the Four Corners area, are expected to share in the settlement.
"We're grateful to Eloise for coming out here and following up with us," Ervin Chavez, president of the Navajo allottee association Shi Shi Kéyah, told The Navajo Times. "Hopefully we can get the word out and everybody will come to these meetings and get their questions answered."
Another meeting also will take place at
Laguna Pueblo next week.
