Gun Lake Tribe welcomes elders with first housing project

The
Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians of Michigan, also known as the Gun Lake Tribe, has completed its first housing project.
The tribe used $2.5 million in federal funds to build nine homes and build infrastructure at "The Settlement." The goal was to create a community for elders and their families.
“This is exciting,” housing director Melissa Brown told The Allegan News. “We worked hard to get here.”
Money came from the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the
Bureau of Indian Affairs.
