Coeur d'Alene Tribe to share in $6.8M mine cleanup settlement

The
Coeur d’Alene Tribe of Idaho will share in a $6.8 million settlement to clean up a defunct mine in the Coeur d’Alene Basin.
Atlantic Richfield Co. agreed to pay the money to the tribe, the state of Idaho and the federal government.
The company did not admit liability but agreed to contribute to the cleanup of the
Superfund site.
“Every dollar we get back from companies is one more dollar that the taxpayers don’t have to pay,” a spokesperson for the
Environmental Protection Agency told The Spokesman Review.
