"Maybe the third time’s the charm for U.S. Rep. Dan Boren.
Boren reintroduced a bill for this legislative session that will place 18 acres of land in McIntosh County into trust for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
The land, owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is part of Fountainhead Resort on Lake Eufaula.
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation purchased the 48-acre resort at a sheriff’s auction in 2005 for $2 million.
If the bill passes, the Creek Nation will pay the Corps of Engineers fair market value for the land, Ellis said."
