New chair of Quileute Tribe calls federal land swap a major priority

The new leader of the
Quileute Tribe of Washington says a land swap with
Olympic National Park is a top priority.
Chairwoman Bonita Cleveland said the tribe will work with
Rep. Norm Dicks (D-Washington) on a bill to authorize the swap.
The tribe needs land to move out of a tsunami and flood zone.
"Moreover, we will spare no effort in assisting Congressman Norm Dicks and his congressional efforts to achieve passage of the Quileute Tsunami Protection legislation," Cleveland said in a statement to The Peninsula Daily News.
