Lawsuits challenge city approval of Seminole casino expansion

Wednesday, March 16, 2011
Filed Under: Litigation | Openings and Closings

An attorney has filed two lawsuits against the city of Coconut Creek, Florida, for approving a casino expansion for the Seminole Tribe.

The tribe plans to add a retail center and parking garage to the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. The development is occurring on land that is not held in trust at this time.

However, the city has agreed to drop its opposition to the tribe's land-into-trust application in exchange for a $2.75 million annual payment. Attorney Alan Koslow says the city has violated zoning regulations and state law by approving the development.
